Whether you are looking for a smaller complete removal or just moving bulky items from A to B, our experienced uniformed crews will work until the job is completed. All our crews are from the permanent staff of Big Red Removals and Storage so you get the benefit of using our flexible hourly rate, only paying for the actual time the removal takes, whilst still getting the benefits of using a professional removals company. We never compromise on quality to ensure that our service is always the best around.
All moves with Big Red can be covered with liability insurance. Each vehicle comes equipped with transit blankets, sofa covers, ties, a skate and a full tool kit. All of our vehicles are satellite tracked, so we know where they are at all times.
All our staff can dismantle/assemble normal furniture, disconnect/connect appliances when applicable and remove doors/windows. With the hourly Man and Van rate, crews have the flexibility to do any last minute packing, additional pick ups, trips to recycling, sofas through windows, etc. We are also able to provide a house clearance service, taking items to charity shops or recycling.
Whatever other stresses you have with your move, you can rely on Big Red to ensure that, from start to finish, the removal process is not one of them. Call the W1 Man and Van specialists now on 0207 228 7651.
Parking W1
Most of the roads around W1 are controlled parking, and either parking suspensions or dispensations are required. For larger Removals in W1 a parking suspension is a necessity. The suspension has to be booked up to 14 working days in advance of the required date. These are booked with your local council online. For smaller W1 removals, using vans, we can load and unload for short periods on single yellow lines. Otherwise a dispensation would need to be booked, if we are packing and W1 flat moving.
A Little Bit About W1
The W postcode area is a group of postcode districts covering part of central and part of west London. The postal district of W1 covers Regents Street, Soho, Marylebone, Mayfair, Fitrovia and Tottenham Court Road. The local authorities covering these areas are Westminster and Camden.
The area of Soho was grazing farmland until 1536, when it was taken by Henry VIII as a royal park for the Palace of Whitehall. The name “Soho” first appears in the 17th century. Most authorities believe that the name derives from a former hunting cry. James Scott, 1st Duke of Monmouth, used “soho” as a rallying call for his men at the Battle of Sedgemoor on 6 July 1685, half a century after the name was first used for this area of London.
Marylebone gets its name from a church dedicated to St Mary represented now by St Marylebone Parish Church. The original church was built on the bank of a small stream or “bourne”, called the Tybourne or Tyburn, that rose further north in what is now Swiss Cottage, eventually running along what is now Marylebone Lane which preserves its curve within the grid pattern.
Mayfair was the site of an annual May Fair and Spring cattle market first held in the late 1600’s. The fair and market were curtailed in the reign of George III because of the notorious behaviour of the ‘lazy rascals’ and ‘sluttish strumpets’ who frequented there.
