Most of the roads around Norbury are controlled parking, and either parking suspensions or dispensations are required. For larger Removals in Norbury a parking suspension is a necessity. The suspension has to be booked 14 days in advance of the required date. Depending on location these are booked with Lambeth, Croydon or Merton council online. A Little Bit About Norbury
The name Norbury derives from North Burh, (North Borough). Some local histories note that this was due to Norbury’s position on the northern boundary of the former Manor of Croydon.
Norbury, like Streatham and Croydon, lies on the London to Brighton Way Roman road, the northern part of which has become the A23 road.
The boundary between Norbury and Streatham, on the London Road at Hermitage Bridge, is one of the few rivers remaining over ground in the area – called Norbury Brook to the east of the Bridge and the River Graveney to the west where it flows on to join the Wandle and ultimately the River Thames.
Bordering Streatham, Norbury shares it’s London postcode SW16 and offers tranquil outside spaces in the from of Norbury Park and Norbury Hall.
Primary Education in the area includes St. James The Great RC Primary, Beulah Infants & Juniors, Norbury Manor Primary and Kensington Avenue Infants & Juniors
For secondary education there is a choice between Norbury Manor High School, Archbishop Lanfranc and St. Joseph’s College.
The area’s past glories are slowly returning as fast rail links to the city attract city workers and their families in search of more home for their money than in neighbouring Dulwich and Streatham.
