A Little Bit About Warwick Avenue
Warwick Avenue is a residential avenue in the Little Venice area of Maida Vale. Its southern end is situated adjacent to Paddington Basin, to the north of Paddington station. At the junction of Warwick Avenue with Warrington Crescent and Clifton Gardens is the Anglican Church of St Saviour, consecrated 1856 but rebuilt in modern style in 1973–76.
The song “Warwick Avenue” featured on the album Rockferry by Duffy. The title refers to Warwick Avenue tube station in London is about former ex boyfriends.
The video is almost entirely composed of a single shot; starting with Duffy leaving Warwick Avenue tube station in the back of a black taxi, crying as she is singing the song. The video finishes with Duffy still in the car, wiping her tears, which had ruined her make-up. The taxi scene was only meant to be one scene from the whole video but the director felt that it was best to use this scene only when Duffy cried real tears and was used for the entire video.
Situated in post code W9, Warwick Avenue sits adjacent to the striking, angular and soaring 1976 brick St Saviour’s church.
